Type Comparison: LII (INTj) and SLE (ESTp)

Socionics Characteristics

Observable Differences in Behavior

  1. LII are rmore relaxed in their natural state than SLE. However LII will mobilize and concentrate when needed to accomplish an objective. After the task has been completed, LII demobilize again. This state of demobilization is the natural state of LII.
  2. When contemplating a task, it takes LII longer time to mobilize than SLE; i.e., LII prefer to spend some time in a more natural state of relaxedness which will then prepare them to subsequently mobilize and concentrate at the crucial moments, improving their performance.
  3. When working on a project, LII are more likely than SLE to break up larger tasks into several stages. Then LII mobilize to carry out each stage (and demobilize between the stages).
  4. When getting ready to start a project, LII spend more time planning and preparing for the project than SLE. In particular, LII spend more time discussing the plan, discussing options and ways to approach the project, etc.)
  5. When describing their reasoning for their actions, LII (more so than SLE) tend describe how and why they came to a certain decision, and focus less on the timing and initiation of the action.
  6. When it comes to completing a task, SLE are more likely than LII to mobilize for longer periods of time. Specifically, SLE tend to mobilize for an action early and stay mobilized for a longer period of time after the task has been completed. For SLE, this state of readiness is their natural state.
  7. SLE are more likely than LII to tackle a task in its entirety, rather than breaking it up into smaller separate stages.
  8. When doing a task, SLE are inclined to work for the sake of the result (for example, a reward or bonus for completing the task). In contrast to LII, SLE can renounce their comforts and conveniences for this; SLE evaluate their place of work by looking at what returns they get for the effort they invested (e.g., monetary, prestige, etc.).
  9. When describing why they undertook a project, SLE are more likely than LII to focus on the moment when a decision is made and to speak in detail about the stages of its implementation.
  10. When discussing work, SLE are more likely than LII to focus on the fruits of their labor, about what their effort will yield. LII on the other hand are more likely to focus on the environment they work in, e.g., their work conditions, conveniences, commute time, etc.
  11. LII are more likely than SLE to perceive and distinguish themselves primarily through personal qualities. LII focus on individualism more than SLE.
  12. LII attitude towards a specific person (more so than SLE) is based on their personal characteristics (authority, intellect, personal achievements, etc.) LII recognize superiority of certain individuals drawing from their personal qualities
  13. SLE, more than LII, frequently perceives and defines themselves and other people through group associations. SLE focus on collectivism over individualism.
  14. When SLE form opinions of others, these opinions are formed under the influence of their attitude towards the group to which the person belongs. To SLE, it is incomprehensible how it is possible to belong to two opposing groups at the same time:, i.e., "you're either with us, or with them and against us."
  15. SLE are often able to form quicker opinions of others they have just met than LII. This is based on the ability of SLE to draw conclusions about the person based on the groups the person belongs to; LII are more reluctant to make these inferences.
  16. SLE' psychic energy more often flows outwards, whereas with LII, their psychic energy more often flows inward.
  17. LII' energy levels tend to improve when they're alone whereas SLE' energy levels increase when they're interacting with larger groups.
  18. SLE' energy levels tend to decrease when they're alone whereas LII' energy levels will decrease when they're interacting with larger groups of people.
  19. With regards to energy levels, SLE tend to have higher energy levels than LII.
  20. LII are more often focused on their thoughts and feelings where as SLE are more often focused on their surroundings.
  21. SLE tend to be more active and initiating with others where as LII tend to be more passive and less initiating.
  22. LII often have a smaller, closer network of friends where as SLE often have a wider network of friends.
  23. SLE are often more cognizant of their outwards appearance and are thus better at presenting themselves than LII.
  24. LII are generally better at concentrating on specific tasks for longer periods of time than SLE.
  25. SLE often prefer to work with others in a team where as LII often prefer working alone.
  26. LII tend to plan ahead, making decisions early. On the other hand, SLE tend to prefer a wait and see, more spontaneous approach.
  27. SLE are relatively more flexible and tolerant than LII.
  28. LII are relatively more rigid and stubborn than SLE.
  29. SLE are comfortable making changes and adjustments to their decisions quite frequently. LII, on the other hand, prefer to not make changes to their decisions.
  30. LII tend to put more effort than SLE into finishing any new project they start.
  31. SLE tend to start more tasks and other projects than LII, but the SLE are less likely to complete all of them.
  32. LII tend to have stiffer more angular movements. SLE tend to have more relaxed fluid movements.
  33. SLE tend to have a more democratic leadership style than LII.
  34. LII tend to have a more authoritarian, hierarchical leadership style than SLE.
  35. SLE have a relatively higher stress tolerance than LII. LII often struggle with continually changing situations more than SLE do.
  36. LII tend to be more idealistic with their heads-in-the-cloud. SLE, on the other hand, are more realistic and down-to-earth.
  37. SLE are better at noticing details than LII. LII on the other hand, are better at seeing the big picture than SLE.
  38. LII are more focused on ideas and concepts than SLE. On the other hand, SLE are more focused (than LII) on their surroundings.
  39. SLE are more naturally comfortable with physical confrontations than LII.
  40. LII are often more interested in the idea or theory of something, whereas SLE are more interested in the actual practice or implementation of it.
  41. LII are more likely (than SLE) to seek new and novel experiences rather than returning to something already lived through. They will generally only re-read a book, re-watch a movie, or revisit the same place if they have forgotten it or are hoping to learn something new from it.
  42. SLE are more likely than LII to use "emotional anchors" that resonate with their internal emotional condition. These emotional anchors could be a book, a movie, a place, a song, etc. SLE use these anchors to strengthen their inner emotional state and thus will repeat the experience: e.g., re-reading a book, re-watching a movie, continually going back to a place to experience the emotions associated with it.
  43. When conversing, SLE types are inclined to communicate in the form of monologues, where each party has "its turn." Because of that they subconsciously attempt to transform a dialogue into a series of monologues. Conversely, LII tend to prefer more of a question and answer style format.
